Responsibilities

Performs a variety of Depot Level operations to assemble and repair major aircraft structures such as primary flight controls, secondary flight controls, fuselage panels, longerons, stringers, formers, and structural subassemblies that include engine cowl panels and shrouds
Aligns parts on jigs using templates and fixtures
Performs such part-fitting operations as filing, sawing, burring, crimping, trimming, framing, riveting, drilling, and reaming
Measures parts with micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions
May modify incomplete and complete assemblies to incorporate changes to structure
May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures
Plans, lay's out, fabricates, assembles, install and repairs both internal and external aircraft structures at the Depot level
Break down and build-up of main and nose tire and wheel assemblies
Assemble aircraft structures and associated components with the aid of jigs and fixtures by drilling, filing, filling, honing, reaming, counter-sinking, dimpling, burring and fastening
Perform close tolerance assembly operations such as: shimming, fitting, trimming, and aligning where variances may occur considerably from one assembly to another as with fairings and the mating of major structural assemblies
Effectively communicate, vocally, by handwriting and email with other employees, members of supervision, and others, as required in their duties
Document maintenance and repair actions, equipment status tags, logs, parts requests, etc
Perform assigned duties without burden due to weather or physical location and conditions
Order parts, check stock, tools, materials, and equipment as required to perform assigned duties
Responsible for complying with all rules and regulations concerning health and safety, tool control, FOD control

Qualification

P-3 aircraft structures experienceFAA Airframe CertificateFAA Powerplant CertificateFAA A&P CertificateNaval Aviation Maintenance ProgramCommunication skillsDocumentation skills

Required

A minimum of 4 yrs of structures experience on P-3 or similar platform (C-130) and a High School diploma for Level I
A minimum of 8 yrs of structures experience on P-3 or similar platform (C-130) and a High School diploma for Level II
FAA Airframe Certificate or FAA Powerplant Certificate. (or ability to obtain quickly)
Ability to obtain/maintain a Department of Homeland Security CBP Background Investigation; CBP Background Investigation is required to start

Preferred

FAA A&P Certificate
10 or more years' experience supporting P-3 or similar platform (C-130) in structural repair, fabrication, modification and installation of sheet metal parts, items and assemblies
Familiarity with the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) or equivalent
Current CBP Security Credentials
