Senior Transportation Project Engineer

Responsibilities

Prepare and steer the design of highway and roadway projects, including geometric design, grading, drainage, traffic control, and pavement design
Develop and review engineering plans, specifications, and technical reports
Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal transportation design standards (AASHTO, FHWA, ConnDOT/RIDOT/MassDOT guidelines)
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including structural, traffic, environmental, and structural engineers
Provide technical support during project development, permitting, bidding, and construction phases
Manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables under the guidance of a project manager
Track project milestones and assist in maintaining budgets and schedules
Coordinate with clients, agencies, and stakeholders; represent BETA while attending project meetings and public presentations
Assist with proposal development and business development initiatives as needed
Mentor junior staff and support quality assurance/quality control efforts

Required

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, or related field
8 to 15 years of related engineering experience in highway design, stormwater management, ADA compliance, and roadway construction practices
Proficient with AutoCAD Civil3D
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Experience with MUTCD, AASHTO, ConnDOT/RIDOT/MassDOT design standards
Experience with MassDEP and CRMC permitting regulations
Strong technical aptitude and an eagerness to learn
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
Must be able to collect field data and measurements including but not limited to roadway, sidewalk, and utility assets; and perform asset inspections
Must be able to lift/move objects weighing up to 40 pounds
Must be able to perform field work in both hot and cold weather (rain and/or snow)
Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time
Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
