Responsibilities
Receive and log incoming patient specimens, verifying accuracy of accompanying documentation and patient information
Coordinate with clients and healthcare providers to resolve discrepancies or incomplete information related to specimen submissions
Maintain detailed records of specimen accessioning activities, ensuring compliance with laboratory and regulatory standards
Communicate effectively with internal laboratory teams to prioritize specimen processing and address any client concerns
Assist in training new staff on accessioning procedures and client service protocols to uphold quality and efficiency
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in a related field preferred
Experience in a healthcare or laboratory environment, particularly in specimen handling or client services
Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately verify and document patient and specimen information
Proficiency in using laboratory information systems (LIS) or similar data management software
Excellent communication skills to interact professionally with clients, healthcare providers, and team members
Preferred
Certification in medical laboratory assisting or related accreditation
Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards
Experience working in a high-volume clinical laboratory setting
Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory testing procedures
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
