Responsibilities

Provide responsible construction engineer function in support of a limited range of construction projects, and operations and maintenance activities
Perform site visits to observe construction and administer basic on-site technical support
Perform occasional emergency response, including outside of normal business hours
Coordinate work with other disciplines and departments for the successful development and execution of projects
Perform research on applicable codes, standards, and procedures and apply to work tasks appropriately
Perform inspections and evaluations to ensure engineering requirements and Authority specifications are satisfied
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications to determine if the contractor is meeting the engineer of records design intent
Basic knowledge to be able to inspect in-progress construction work to ensure compliance with the contract documents, specifications, permits, and drawings
For assigned work and projects, provide supervision of maintenance department(s) staff, and contractors, and prepare and monitor the day-to-day work activities of the crafts
Work with planners in scheduling work activities; oversee the safety of employees
Review job packages to ensure they are complete and current prior to performance of the work
Review completed work, job packages, and work orders to verify all steps are complete and to ensure that all data/information is recorded

Required

Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering, or equivalent, from an accredited college or university
Minimum of two (2) years related work experience preferred
This role is required to be or become a CPP-1/LOTO clearance holder within 24 months and maintain it for the duration of time in the role
Basic knowledge in the means and methods of construction used as part of various disciplines of construction such as electrical, mechanical, structural, and water systems specific to the electric utility industry or building construction/ renovation industry
Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications
Basic verbal and written communication skills
Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects with guidance
Familiarity with applicable codes, standards, and regulations
Ability to perform basic engineering calculations, and adapt standard specifications, scopes of work, reports, and design packages to specific projects
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications to determine if the contractor is meeting the engineer of records design intent
Basic knowledge to be able to inspect in-progress construction work to ensure compliance with the contract documents, specifications, permits, and drawings

Preferred

Minimum of two (2) years related work experience preferred
