Responsibilities

Leads the development and implementation of the Chamber’s long-range strategic plan and annual program of work in partnership with the Board of Directors and staff
Identifies emerging business and community issues and recommends strategic responses aligned with the Chamber’s mission
Evaluates organizational performance using measurable outcomes and reports progress to the Board
Builds and maintains strong, transparent relationships with the Chair of the Board, Executive Committee, and Board of Directors
Provides leadership to ensure effective Board engagement, governance, and accountability
In partnership with the Board Chair, plans and facilitates Board and Executive Committee meetings, including agenda development and preparation of materials
Serves as staff liaison to Board committees, including the Executive Committee, the Nominating Committee, the Budget Committee and other committees as assigned
Assists the Board in the development, interpretation, and refinement of organizational policies and bylaws
Ensures the effective implementation and enforcement of Board-adopted policies
Continuously evaluates the Chamber’s organizational structure, policies, and procedures and recommends improvements to enhance effectiveness and responsiveness
Leads the Chamber’s advocacy and public policy efforts in alignment with Board-approved positions
Serves as the Chamber’s chief spokesperson on policy matters and business priorities
Builds and maintains relationships with local, state, and federal elected officials and agency leaders
Represents the Chamber in coalitions and partnerships to advance shared business and community interests
Provides executive leadership for membership recruitment, retention, and engagement strategies
Ensure the Chamber delivers a compelling and relevant value proposition to businesses and organizations of all sizes
Engages directly with key members, investors, and stakeholders to strengthen relationships and support long-term investment
Evaluates and enhances group benefit programs and membership services to ensure effectiveness and relevance
Provides leadership and oversight for the development and evaluation of Chamber programs, initiatives, and services
Ensures program and strategic priority alignment and delivers measurable value to members and the community
Supports staff and volunteer leaders with guidance, resources, and accountability to deliver high-quality outcomes
Oversees the financial health and sustainability of the Chamber
Develops the annual operating budget in collaboration with the Board and staff
Ensures revenues and expenditures are managed in accordance with the approved budget
Ensures accurate, timely financial reporting and compliance with all regulatory and audit requirements
Builds, leads, and retains a high-performing staff aligned with organizational priorities and financial resources
Has full authority for staff hiring, supervision, evaluation, and professional development of staff
Establishes performance expectations and fosters a collaborative, mission-driven workplace culture
Performs other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors or Board Chair that are consistent with the Chamber’s mission and bylaws

Required

Bachelor's degree is required in business administration, public administration, marketing, or a related field; advanced education or professional credentials preferred
Demonstrated expertise in strategic leadership, fiscal management, advocacy, staff leadership, and organizational development
Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, written, and public communication skills
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
Ability to motivate and lead volunteers, staff, and community stakeholders
Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally and occasionally overnight
Availability for early morning, evening, and weekend meetings and events as required
Ability to work under moderate levels of stress and manage multiple priorities
Ability to regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds, with reasonable accommodation as needed

Preferred

Completion of U.S. Chamber Institute training or comparable organizational leadership development strongly preferred
Prior Chamber of Commerce executive experience or senior-level leadership experience in a complex organization preferred; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered
