The Environmental and Responsible Care Manager is responsible for leading the Responsible Care® program, ensuring compliance with regulations, and driving improvements in Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security performance within a chemical manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

Administer and maintain the organization’s Responsible Care® Management System in alignment with ACC/CIAC codes and certification requirements

Develop, implement, and monitor Responsible Care® policies, procedures, and performance metrics

Lead internal and external Responsible Care® audits, assessments, and certifications

Provide training and communication to employees and leadership on Responsible Care® expectations, guiding principles, and new initiatives

Oversee and administer all elements of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119 Process Safety Management

Manage Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs), Layers of Protection Analyses (LOPAs), and follow-up actions

Ensure compliance with Management of Change (MOC) procedures, Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs), and periodic PSM program reviews

Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations to ensure safe design, installation, operation, and maintenance of all equipment

Maintain mechanical integrity documentation and ensure proper inspection/testing protocols are followed

Lead incident investigations using root cause analysis for Process Safety incidents

Manage PHAs, MOCs, PSSRs, and mechanical integrity processes

Ensure adherence to all applicable Environmental regulations including EPA, state, and local requirements

Manage Environmental permits and maintain required documentation and reporting (i.e., air, wastewater, stormwater, waste, SPCC, RCRA, TRI, Tier II)

Oversee hazardous waste management, storage, shipping, manifesting, and associated training

Monitor emission sources, waste streams, and Environmental controls to ensure continued compliance

Lead sustainability initiatives including pollution prevention, waste minimization, energy reduction, and recycling programs

Lead incident investigations using root cause analysis for Environmental incidents

Interface with Environmental agencies and respond to inspections, inquiries, and reporting deadlines

Champion continuous improvement aligned with ISO, Responsible Care®, and operational excellence methodologies
