WITS (Wistron ITS) is seeking a highly motivated Wireless Protocol Test Engineer to join their engineering team in Mountain View. This role focuses on the testing, validation, and optimization of wireless communication protocols such as LTE and 5G NR in a lab-based environment.

Responsibilities

Protocol Testing: Execute functional, performance, and regression tests on wireless devices across 4G LTE and 5G (NSA/SA) technologies
RF OTA Testing: Develop, refine, and maintain OTA test methodologies, test plans, and performance benchmarks to ensure repeatable and meaningful results
Signaling Analysis: Analyze L1/L2/L3 protocol logs (RRC, NAS, MAC, PHY) to identify, debug, and report signaling issues and call-flow failures
Lab Operations: Hands-on operation and maintenance of lab equipment, including Network Emulators (Keysight, Rohde & Schwarz, Anritsu), Spectrum Analyzers, and Signal Generators
Automation: Utilize and modify Python scripts to automate repetitive test cases and data collection processes
Defect Management: Document bugs and performance bottlenecks in tracking systems (e.g., Jira) and collaborate with development teams to verify fixes
Hardware Interfacing: Manage device-under-test (DUT) setups, including firmware flashing, cabling, and shielding box configurations

Required

Education: B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related technical field
Experience: 1–3 years of experience in wireless testing or telecommunications
Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of 3GPP standards (LTE and 5G NR)
Familiarity with signaling protocols and call processing
Programming: Proficiency in Python for scripting and basic automation tasks
Soft Skills: Strong analytical mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a high-pressure lab environment

Preferred

Experience with logging tools like QXDM, QCAT, or Wireshark
Familiarity with ADB (Android Debug Bridge) commands
