Junior Engineering Technician - (90% Travel)
Serco Inc. is a leading provider supporting the U.S. military and federal agencies, and they are seeking a Junior Engineering Technician to work on IT systems modernization at DoD facilities. The role involves installing server equipment, video surveillance systems, and performing various engineering tasks while traveling extensively across the United States and internationally.

Responsibilities
Follow specific instructions, assemble, or construct simple or standard equipment or parts, service or repair simple instruments or equipment
Conduct a variety of tests using established methods, adjusting, and operating equipment, recording test data, and pointing out deviations resulting from equipment malfunction or observational errors
Unpack and re-pack equipment for test and shipment to customer facilities
Extract engineering data from various prescribed but non-standardized sources, processing the data following well-defined methods including elementary algebra and geometry, and presenting the data in prescribed form
Perform the installation of CAT 6 cabling
Terminate CAT 6 using T568B color code standard
Other duties may be assigned
Qualification
Required
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance
U.S Citizenship is required
Must be able to obtain a CAC (Common Access Card)
Must be able to obtain access to all military installations
Must be willing to travel up to 90% of the time, up to 4 months at a time
Must be able to travel internationally
Must be able to obtain a valid U.S Passport within 30 days of employment
Must possess a valid driver's license
A High School Diploma/GED
Able to work independently, meet schedule, and duty requirements
Must be organized, with the ability to coordinate, prioritize, and execute multiple tasks
Able to demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills
Able to work in areas with drafts, noise, and temperature variation
Able to work during inclement weather or other adverse conditions
Able to work in high heat spaces, climb dry dock stairs/ladders, work in kneeling position for layout of cable runs under false decking
Able to perform work on ladders and lifts
Able to lift up to 50lbs without assistance with 80% of work requiring carrying, pushing, and/or pulling up to 40lbs for majority of shift while being in a standing, crouching, or walking position
Must be familiar with typical hand tools
Able to work with power tools; drill, Sawzall, Rotozip saw, Dremel, etc
Preferred
Active DoD Secret security clearance
A current US passport
Fast learner
General troubleshooting experience
Experience using Digital Multi-meter and power meters
General Knowledge to mount hardware on varying surfaces
Familiar with Wire, Cable termination
Familiar with RJ45 connectors and terminations
General knowledge of Microsoft software (Excel, Word, outlook)
