ACCOUNTANT I

Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain financial records, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all transactions
Assist in the preparation of financial reports, budgets, and forecasts in accordance with state regulations and policies
Reconcile accounts, ensuring discrepancies are identified and resolved in a timely manner
Prepare journal entries and ensure all entries are properly documented and in compliance with state accounting standards
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation

Required

A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university
Familiarity with governmental accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting processes
Proficient in accounting software (e.g., PeopleSoft, QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel) and standard office applications
Skilled in preparing and presenting financial statements, budgets, and reports
Understanding of state and federal financial regulations and accounting standards

Preferred

Knowledge of the Arkansas Administrative Statewide Information System
Knowledge of state processes and administrative practices and procedures regarding assets
Experience in responding to auditors inquiries and developing corrective action plans
Knowledge of Microsoft products and applications
Experience in compiling complex data and the ability to clearly communicate finding in a comprehensive report
