Responsibilities
Serve as the primary controls and automation lead for the caster operation
Troubleshoot and optimize PLC-based control systems (Siemens environment)
Modify and improve existing control programs to address process and reliability issues
Provide technical leadership for oscillator controls and caster automation systems
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of approximately 8 shift electricians, many early in their careers
Elevate troubleshooting skills and technical confidence across the electrical team
Drive problems to resolution through structured troubleshooting and hands-on involvement
Collaborate closely with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams
Interface with contractors and vendors as needed to support upgrades and improvements
Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing throughput and uptime
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
5–10+ years of relevant experience in a heavy industrial environment (steel, milling, paper, metals, etc.)
Automation or controls experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
Strong troubleshooting skills with PLC-controlled systems
