Storage Specialist
DLA Careers is seeking a Storage Specialist who will serve as the senior technical expert and special project lead for DLA Distribution’s Space Optimization program. The role involves developing and implementing various aspects of the Space Optimization and Storage Management programs, providing technical guidance, and evaluating emerging technologies for effective warehousing design.

Responsibilities
Serves as the senior technical expert and special project lead for DLA Distribution’s Space Optimization program
Develops, plans, implements, coordinates, operates, evaluates and executes various aspects of the Space Optimization and Storage Management programs
Implements long range plans for process and/or performance improvements within program areas
Provides technical advice and guidance to Infrastructure Management team members and Distribution Center Representatives
Supports the extensive coordination and integration within DLA Distribution to develop and carry out major organizational and process changes
Performs storage space analyses and analyses of net landed cost billing for storage
Evaluates emerging technologies, concepts and best business practices for both effective and efficient warehousing design/flow

One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position
To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector
Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement
Creditable specialized experience includes: Conducting studies to identify trends and determine impacts related to depot operation and storage capacity/site capability, developing training manuals and training procedures for space optimization and storage management, recommending improvements regarding the storage and packaging of hazardous and non-hazardous materials, and analyzing and evaluating storage and distribution space management policies, practices, methods, systems and procedures
