Electric Power Generation Engineer - Washington, D.C.

Responsibilities

Design and implement electrical power generation systems including specifications and operational requirements
Develop and integrate the control systems for all power generation components
Design and develop Turbine Generators, with an emphasis on the generator end
Design and integrate control systems for the Turbine Generator
Collaborate closely with Naval Reactors, PMS 397, the shipbuilder, and component vendors to define and meet detailed design requirements
Ensure all production units meet established design criteria and maintain the highest quality standards

Required

A current or active Secret clearance
US Citizenship
Bachelor's degree in electrical (preferred), Mechanical, Computer, or other engineering degree or related field (Physics, for example). + NAVSEA or submarine experience may be considered in lieu of degree requirements
5 years of experience
3 years of experience in the design of military or commercial power generation systems or similar/related experience
Ability to be articulate in both oral and written formats
Ability to use the Microsoft Office Suite of programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Ability to provide rigorous, responsive, technical acumen while retaining a collaborative and amiable approach
Ability to travel 10% of the time

Preferred

5 years of experience in the maintenance, operation and issue resolution of power generation systems
3 years of experience with magnetic bearings as applied to power generation systems
Naval Nuclear Propulsion experience on VIRGINA class submarines, at a Prototype or Nuclear shipyard
