Global Controller (US Only)
Catholic Relief Services is the official international humanitarian agency of the Catholic community in the United States. The Global Controller will analyze the financial status of the company and work with the CFO to develop and carry out long-term financial goals and direct the preparation of all financial reports, statements, audits, and controls.

Responsibilities
Oversee all financial accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) standards and regulatory requirements
Maintain and analyze the general ledger accounting records, conduct research and resolve technical accounting issues and oversee month-end close and general ledger activity. Ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards (FASB ASC 958)
Analyze financial statements and prepare reports ensuring the information accurately reflects the organization’s financial activities and clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Ensure high-quality management reporting and transparency on restricted vs. unrestricted net assets
Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of organization’s assets, policies, procedures, and workflow
Lead the collaboration and direction of all global audit activity, including the 2 CFR 200 US government audit and Global Fund audits
Oversee financial compliance with major institutional donors (e.g., USAID, EU, UN agencies, foundations, bilaterals). Ensure grant accounting, revenue recognition, cost allocation, and indirect rate applications follow donor regulations and internal policies
Oversee the preparation of Form 990 and other federal, state and other required tax filings
Establish clear leadership and strategic objectives for individual departments and their leaders to ensure, efficient, and cost-effective operations
Identify, develop, and implement processes and procedures for the financial management; identify areas of improvement or opportunity as needed
Oversee the grants management processes related to financial activities and reporting in compliance with donor regulations
Oversee global financial operational functions including accounts payable, payroll and accounts receivable
Oversee Global Treasury operations including cash management, investments and corporate risk (insurance) program. Ensure adequate liquidity and reserves are maintained
Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all country programs
Monitor CRS’s retirement plans (403(b), 457 and offshore) plans which include making contributions and submitting annual reports and other required documentation. Review year-end compliance and required forms ensuring finance records are up-to-date
Drive process improvements to enhance efficiency, transparency, and scalability across global finance operations. Lead optimization of the global Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system and related financial tools
Manage and develop a diverse global accounting team, including regional or country finance leaders
Build organizational financial capacity by providing regular training, technical assistance, and coaching to direct reports to maximize and achieve global impact
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Economics or Finance
Minimum 12 years of financial and/or program management experience within an international operations environment, with a minimum of 7 years in a supervisory position
Past experience in managing large geographically distributed programs including multiple projects and/or service delivery efforts
Experience in business change projects and/or business process improvement
Solid knowledge of not-for-profit accounting and U.S. Government funding regulations for non-profit organizations
Deep knowledge of US tax system and audit principles
Strong finance and accounting knowledge and analytical/problem solving skills
Strong computer skills, project management skills, process development and enhancement skills
Demonstrated experience in building and leading teams
Ability to manage competing objectives and priorities

Preferred
MBA or Master's degree in related field with a focus on Accounting preferred
A professional certification in Accounting or a Certified Public Accountant highly preferred
