Production Assistant
The Salvation Army Southern California is an international evangelical movement dedicated to meeting human needs. They are seeking a Production Assistant to operate a truck for the Thrift Store, assist in processing donations, and ensure the smooth operation of the store.

Responsibilities
Operate the truck safely in a manner consistent with Salvation Army policy
Receive all items donated in a pleasant and courteous manner
When material is not suitable for resale or on the not accepted list, refuse it in a tactful and polite way
Offer each donor a receipt for Income Tax purposes. Under no circumstances does the Production Assistant place a value on any donation
The Production Assistant is responsible to see that material is not damaged in handling by the them and/or helper while being picked up, transported or off-loaded
They will make prescribed deliveries to the thrift store, social services and other programs as necessary
While in the store, the Production Assistant will give assistance to the managers in placing items in the appropriate places
It is the responsibility of the Production Assistant to unload the truck after donation pickups. The truck should never be left with merchandise or other items in the back
The Production Assistant must do a prescribed safety and equipment check each day before and after using the truck, and is responsible to see that operation levels for fluids (gas, oil, air, etc.) are maintained
Must attend assigned safety and driver training meetings
Will assist with social services pick up, delivery, stacking and unloading as needed
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or equivalent
Oregon licensed truck driver with demonstrated driving ability and no more than one accident or moving violation within the last 12 months
Minimum of 2 years' experience driving larger commercial vehicles
Must demonstrate a passion for, and be familiar with The Salvation Army's mission, doctrine and local ministries; and represent the ideals of The Salvation Army in every aspect of his/her work
Ability to follow directions and be familiar with thrift store operations
Ability to present oneself in a professional and appropriate manner
Ability to adhere to guidelines
Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances
Ability to interact with coworkers and the public in a positive manner
Ability to complete job assignments, safely operate Salvation Army vehicles and support the overall mission of the Salvation Army by appropriately representing the Army in public
Ability to be flexible in the work week schedule
Regular and punctual attendance is an essential function of this position
Must have the ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis, to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead, and to lift up to 75 lbs
Must be able to work in an environment that is fast paced, deals with various units (within The Medford Citadel Corps) and must be able to multi-task and work in spite of interruptions and surrounding activities
Must attend assigned safety and driver training meetings
Must pass a criminal history information check
Preferred
Preferred if trained and certified to operate a Forklift
