Responsibilities

Exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities at least 25% of the time
Represent the AFNWC Legal Office with a variety of installation and function area organizations
Chief legal counsel for designated acquisition programs
Examine legal issues raised by requests for formal and informal opinions
Maintain current knowledge of changing statutory and regulatory guidance relating to acquisition and sustainment, general developments in technology that may improve the effective delivery of legal services, and developments in ethics, labor, civil, national security and military law which impact the organizations served by the AFNWC Legal Office

Required

Must be a graduate of a law school accredited by the American Bar Association
You MUST have successfully completed a full course of study in a school of law accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) and have the first professional law degree (LLB or JD)
At the time of application, you must provide proof, dated within four months of application, of 'active' status with a bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. commonwealth, U.S. territory, or the District of Columbia
Qualifications Required at GS-14 or GS-15 Level. In addition, the attorney shall have professional legal experience in excess of three years that is commensurate with the duties and responsibilities of the position
Knowledge of federal acquisition law and regulations (including but not limited to such areas as Systems Acquisition, Research & Development, Facilities, Fiscal, Taxation, Environmental, Anti-Trust, Patents, Copyright and Technical Data Rights)
Knowledge of laws and regulations impacting federal acquisition organizations and personnel (including but not limited to such areas as ethics, labor, civil, national security, technology transfer and military law)
Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures
Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and staff of a small to medium sized organization
Ability to lead, guide, and advise subordinates to enable them to perform effectively and to handle greater responsibility in the future
U.S. Citizenship is required
Selectee is expected to be granted with and/or maintain the appropriate security clearance required for the position
Position may be subject to random drug testing
Employee must maintain current certifications
Attorney appointments are subject to serve a one-year probationary period
Incumbent is required to file an OGE Form 450, Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, upon appointment and will be required to file annually
Incumbent is required to maintain continuing legal education (CLE) currency as establish by the incumbent's bar
Incumbent must satisfactorily complete all mandatory supervisory training
Mobility is a condition of employment. The employee must sign an Air Force-wide mobility agreement
Incumbent is required to complete Senior Development Education (SDE) Professional Military Education (PME) within 36 months of appointment unless a SDE PME certificate of completion is provided to the HQ AFMC/CA upon appointment
