Engineering Associate Surveyor’s Office - Construction Survey Party Chief

Lane County Government is seeking an experienced Survey Party Chief to lead critical surveying work that supports safe transportation systems, public infrastructure, and community development across Lane County. This role involves leading a survey field crew, performing various survey activities, and contributing to public works projects throughout the region.

Responsibilities

Lead and participate in a wide range of survey activities—from topographic surveys and construction staking to right-of-way retracements and boundary surveys
Apply both technical expertise and field leadership, operating modern survey technology while guiding a survey field crew to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and safety in the field
Perform survey calculations; process field data using computer-aided drafting and modeling software and conduct survey research to support County projects from planning through construction
Examine public land system corners; research survey records; perform field surveying and staking and perform complex calculations; update and provide plat data for GPS mapping; and research land records to determine rights-of-way

Required

Bachelor's degree in a field related to area of assignment; and sufficient experience as necessitated by the competency level of the position
2 - 5 years of progressively responsible professional experience
Specialized knowledge specific to area of assignment may be required
Valid Oregon Driver's License

Preferred

Professional Land Surveyor certification is preferred but not required
