Senior Software Triage & Automation Engineer
Apple is seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Triage & Automation Engineer to join the Apple Service Engineering team. This role involves debugging, analyzing, and triaging complex software issues while designing systems to automate these processes, ultimately contributing to faster resolution and higher product reliability.

Responsibilities
Build and integrate technologies that enhance people’s lives
Debug, analyze, and triage complex issues across diverse stack elements, encompassing iOS, macOS, and cloud-based software components
Facilitate the reduction of manual triaging effort and expedite issue resolution
Demonstrate exceptional analytical abilities, communication skills, and a structured problem-solving approach
Serve as the initial line of defense for incoming issues involving investigation, categorization, and root-cause hypothesis generation
Provide updates to leadership and offer guidance to development teams
Design systems to automate processes for faster resolution and higher product reliability
Qualification
Required
5+ years of professional experience in software development, debugging, or triage engineering
Strong hands-on experience with iOS/macOS internals, frameworks, and system-level components
Proficiency in at least one C-type programming language (C, C++, Objective-C, Swift)
Strong Python experience for building automation tools, data analysis pipelines, and scripting workflows
Demonstrated ability to analyze complex software issues, crashes, and performance bottlenecks
Track record of reducing manual work through strategic automation initiatives
Experience working with log analysis tools, crash reporting frameworks, and debuggers (eg. LLDB, Instruments, Xcode tools, Console, sysdiagnose, etc.)
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally
Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
Preferred
Swift proficiency preferred for creating native diagnostic tools and understanding modern iOS/macOS codebases
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) and distributed systems debugging
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and issue-tracking systems (Jira, Radar, Bugzilla)
Experience with data analysis tools (SQL, Pandas, Jupyter) for identifying patterns in large bug datasets
Knowledge of machine learning applications in DevOps/AIOps
Experience with observability platforms (Datadog, Splunk, ELK stack)
Background in customer-facing technical support or incident management
