Senior Project Manager
Howard University is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead the Enterprise Technology Services division. This role is responsible for overseeing strategic initiatives, operational efficiency, and project delivery while collaborating with senior leadership and various departments.

Responsibilities
Oversee the intake, prioritization, and delivery of the technology project portfolio
Ensure adherence to PMO standards, methodologies, and reporting practices
Monitor and manage project scope, schedule, budget, and performance across active initiatives
Identify and mitigate project risks and interdependencies
Partner with the Director to manage operational planning, budgeting, and resource allocation across the technology organization
Lead process improvements and standardization efforts across IT administrative functions
Support vendor contract management, compliance tracking, and procurement coordination
Prepare business reports, KPIs, and operational dashboards to support informed decision-making
Direct and coach a team of project managers, analysts, and support staff
Set performance objectives, provide regular feedback, and promote continuous professional development
Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing work culture aligned with the university’s strategic plan
Support the Director in executing the strategic roadmap for business operations and project governance
Provide insight and recommendations to enhance operational maturity and service delivery effectiveness
Assist with the development and refinement of policies, processes, and performance frameworks
Serve as a liaison between IT and university stakeholders to ensure alignment on priorities and expectations
Facilitate cross-functional meetings, briefings, and status updates for leadership and project sponsors
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree and 6-10 years of related work experience
12 years of related work experience may be substituted in lieu of educational qualifications
Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
Strategic thinking and execution
Team leadership and development
Project governance and delivery excellence
Business process improvement
Resource Planning
Communication and relationship management
Highly skilled in the operation of computers, related software applications (Microsoft Applications: Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Visio) and standard office equipment
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain effective and harmonious work relations with faculty, staff, students and customers
Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work with others
Ability to multi-task efficiently and efficiently
Must demonstrate strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
Extensive knowledge of Project Management methodologies and best practices
Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in writing
Must possess project management, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to manage projects and tasks
Must also demonstrate a strong focus on attention to detail
