Commercial Lines Underwriter
Global Recruiters of Denver is representing an established insurance company in growth mode, seeking a Commercial Lines Underwriter to manage a diverse book of business. The role involves underwriting new and renewal business, maintaining strong agency relationships, and requires technical underwriting skills along with consultative sales ability.

Responsibilities
Underwrite and assess small to large-sized commercial risks of low to moderate complexity; occasionally handle larger or more complex accounts
Manage the complete lifecycle of an assigned book of business, including new business, renewals, endorsements, and agency relationships
Anticipate underwriting and marketing challenges, analyze information, and make sound, timely decisions
Build and maintain strong agent relationships, negotiating terms and pricing with consultative sales skills
Partner with regional sales managers to implement and execute agency business plans
Collaborate with raters and other support staff to ensure accurate and efficient processing
Escalate risks beyond authority when appropriate and ensure files comply with underwriting guidelines and regulatory standards
Participate in agency meetings, training sessions, and industry events (limited travel)
Use data, dashboards, and portfolio analysis to identify trends and inform underwriting decisions
Contribute to departmental initiatives including systems testing, process improvements, and strategic projects
Support training and mentoring of less experienced associates as appropriate
Qualification
Required
5+ years of commercial underwriting, policy services, or related insurance experience
Strong understanding of general commercial risks and local market dynamics
Commercial property and CPP experience is a must
Track record of managing new business, renewals, and endorsements with agency partners
Ability to make data-driven decisions and clearly communicate rationale
Consultative sales skills with proven ability to negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions
Strong verbal and written communication skills; collaborative and team-oriented mindset
Resides within the company's current hiring footprint
Preferred
Bachelor's or Associate's degree preferred (High School diploma with relevant experience accepted)
Professional designations (CPCU, AU, CIC, etc.) preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of reinsurance treaties a plus
