Research Technician I

Stony Brook University is seeking a motivated Research Technician to join the Yang Laboratory, which focuses on how mRNA translation affects cellular responses to nutrition and health. The technician will perform a variety of lab duties including protein, RNA, and DNA preparation, maintain the mouse colony, and assist in data analysis and manuscript writing.

Responsibilities

Protein, RNA and DNA preparation and analyses; mammalian cell culture with sterile techniques
Assist in ordering supplies and equipment to keep the lab inventory well stocked
Maintain mouse colony, and mouse metabolic assays
Data analysis and participate in manuscript writing for publication
Maintain laboratory reagents and equipment
Participate in weekly lab meetings, and other duties/projects as assigned
Other Duties as assigned

Bachelor's degreeResearch experienceWetlab techniquesDry lab techniquesMouse handlingData analysisMolecular biologyBiochemical assays

Required

Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in biology, biochemistry, physiology, biomedical sciences or a related field
Experience with research activities
Research experience in a laboratory setting

Preferred

Proficient in wetlab (cell culture, bench assays), dry lab (computational analysis), and mouse work
