Responsibilities
On a medium to large (PFE Tier I - <$250m) job, performs the duties of a lead engineer in either an area, coordinating and directing a variety of disciplines, or as a Project Field Engineer, coordinating all activities related to the operation of assigned operating section
Proactively engages with their teams’ development through CPM, competency development/assessment and feedback
Leads construction engineers in a broad range of construction engineering work within a specific engineering discipline
Coordinates with design on constructability issues
Reviews material receiving reports and warehousing to assure delivery of correct materials
Possesses responsibility for quantity take-off, control, reporting and forecasting
Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely
Possesses responsibility for coordinating between Construction and Startup to ensure the various system walkdowns are performed, interfacing with the Startup Specialist as required to support component/system turnover and assuming responsibility (as required) for area turnover coordination as determined by the PFE
Reviews and approves inspection test plans
Coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittals
Qualification
Required
Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience
Owns technical execution of electrical scope—expert knowledge of power distribution, grounding, raceway, cable, terminations, protection, testing, and energization; ensures code and spec compliance
Leads the electrical field engineering team—assigns scope, sets technical standards, reviews work products, and develops field engineers to consistent quality and pace
Drives electrical readiness and AWP—ensures IFC drawings, materials, access, test packages, and permits are ready to support IWPs and superintendent plans
Controls quality, progress, and turnover—validates quantities, supports progress measurement, drives resolution of NCRs, and enables clean system turnover to commissioning
Primary technical interface for electrical—coordinates with engineering, procurement, construction, safety, and commissioning; escalates systemic risks early and clearly
