Responsibilities
Manage the month-end and year-end close process
Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Maintain and analyze general ledger accounts
Ensure accurate revenue recognition using WIP schedules and percentage-of-completion accounting
Prepare job cost reports and analyze project profitability
Develop, maintain, and review WIP schedules
Reconcile WIP to the general ledger monthly
Work closely with project managers to validate job cost forecasts, change orders, and billing
Identify and explain cost overruns, underbillings, and overbillings
Assist with annual budgeting and ongoing forecasts
Provide cash flow projections and financial insights to management
Support strategic decision-making with financial analysis
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Manage external CPA firm relationships for audits and tax filings
Implement and maintain internal controls and accounting policies
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and job costing functions
Improve accounting processes and systems for efficiency and scalability
Train and mentor accounting staff as needed
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
Active CPA license
5+ years of accounting experience, with significant experience in construction accounting
Strong knowledge of WIP, job costing, and percentage-of-completion accounting
