Responsibilities
Assess and document the current-state integration and EDI environment across internal systems and external trading partners
Define and design a future-state integration architecture that supports the SAP S/4HANA ERP roadmap
Establish integration standards and best practices for REST/JSON APIs, event-driven architectures, secure file transfers (SFTP/FTPS), and traditional EDI (X12/EDIFACT)
Architect and implement end-to-end integration scenarios using SAP Integration Suite components, including Cloud Integration, API Management, and Event Mesh, across hybrid cloud and on-premise environments
Define and enforce standards for monitoring, error handling, resiliency, performance, security, and observability
Act as the subject matter expert for EDI standards, mappings, compliance requirements, and translation platforms
Lead and optimize high-volume retail integrations such as purchase orders, ASNs, invoicing, remittance advice, and chargebacks for major retailers (e.g., Walmart, Amazon, Target, Dollar General)
Ensure adherence to retailer-specific onboarding, certification, and testing requirements
Manage the full lifecycle of integration programs, including project initiation, scope definition, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and stakeholder communications
Develop and maintain detailed project plans, resource forecasts, and delivery milestones; facilitate daily stand-ups and formal stage-gate reviews
Coordinate internal teams and external vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of integration initiatives
Implement structured change management and release governance processes across development, testing, and production environments
Oversee the development, migration, and deployment of integrations using SAP BTP services and applicable iPaaS solutions
Define and implement CI/CD pipelines for integration assets, including API lifecycle management and version control
Ensure data governance, security, and regulatory compliance, including protection of PII and adherence to vendor and partner mandates
Collaborate closely with ERP, supply chain, finance, and operations teams to align integration solutions with business objectives
Produce and maintain architecture diagrams, interface inventories, operational runbooks, and executive-level status reporting
Qualification
Required
10+ years of experience in systems integration architecture
5+ years leading complex integration programs or large-scale IT projects
Strong hands-on experience with EDI (X12/EDIFACT), API-led integration, file-based integration patterns, and middleware platforms
Extensive expertise with SAP BTP and SAP Integration Suite (Cloud Integration, API Management, Event Mesh, Open Connectors)
In-depth knowledge of SAP S/4HANA integration technologies including IDoc/ALE, OData services, CDS views, and BAPIs, as well as non-SAP system integrations
Proven ability to lead delivery, manage stakeholders, and communicate effectively with executive leadership
Experience with iPaaS platforms such as Cleo and Boomi, along with EDI translators and VAN providers
Working knowledge of DevOps and DataOps practices for integrations, including CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub) and automated testing frameworks
Preferred
SAP certifications related to SAP BTP and/or SAP Integration Suite
