Electrical Engineer II
Second Order Effects (SOE) is an engineering consulting firm that specializes in electrical, electromechanical, and embedded systems. As an Electrical Engineer II, you will support the design, architecture, and implementation of cutting-edge electrical systems while collaborating with a team to tackle mission-critical challenges across multiple industries.

Responsibilities
Support the design, architecture, and development of electronic systems
Work closely with internal engineering teams and external customers to build solutions across multiple industries (aerospace, renewable energy, medical devices, etc.)
Take ownership from schematic capture and PCB layout through hardware bring-up and troubleshooting
Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to deliver on development activities ranging from design reviews to hardware bring-up and testing
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Math, or a related field
3+ years of experience with end-to-end electronics design, including requirements generation, schematic design, board layout, design verification and acceptance testing
Ability to collaborate effectively with an interdisciplinary team
Demonstrated passion for engineering
Strong problem-solving skills and initiative to overcome technical challenges
Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills; ability to explain design decisions and component selections
Experience in any common ECAD tool, such as Altium Designer, KiCad, Cadence, PADS, EAGLE, etc
Applicant must be willing to work 40 hours a week on-site in Redmond, Washington, USA
Applicant must be eligible to work on export controlled projects
To conform with U.S. Government export control regulations, including the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
Preferred
Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, or a related field
Experience in a team-based design and build project (e.g., Formula SAE, Solar Car, CubeSat, etc.)
Experience designing PCBs for high-reliability applications (e.g., aerospace, automotive, medical)
Experience with analog small-signal circuit design (filters, op-amp circuits, signal conditioning) and/or power electronics designs: regulators, load drivers, supply filters, protection circuitry
