Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain ESRI ArcGIS Pro-based applications to support intelligent traffic system operations
Integrate GIS data with Waze, Google Maps, Apple Maps, and other third-party mapping APIs
Configure live data connections to traffic signals and video feeds
Support integration with Cyteris Intelligent Traffic System (ITS) backend
Manage and optimize geospatial databases for speed, accuracy, and reliability
Provide knowledge transfer and training to in-house GIS staff for system maintenance
Collaborate with traffic engineers, IT staff, and public safety teams to define requirements and translate them into technical solutions
Conduct regular check-ins and progress updates with GIS management

Required

Must pass a satisfactory standard criminal background check upon hire
Bachelor's degree in GIS, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
5+ years of experience in GIS application development in a public sector or transportation-related environment
Proven experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro (experience migrating from ArcMap a plus)
Strong background in GIS programming, APIs, and system integrations
Familiarity with transportation/traffic management systems or government/public sector GIS work strongly preferred
Ability to work independently to design and build complex solutions
Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and train GIS staff
Experience with content type creation and geospatial data workflows
Knowledge of best practices for data visualization and system performance optimization
Excellent communication skills for working with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred

Experience in intelligent transportation systems (ITS) or traffic management projects
Familiarity with public sector workflows and regulatory requirements
Knowledge of open-source GIS tools (e.g., QGIS, Leaflet, OpenLayers)
Experience with real-time data dashboards such as ArcGIS Dashboards or Power BI with GIS integration
Understanding of municipal IT security and data governance standards
