Post Doctoral Fellow- de la Puente Lab

Responsibilities

Perform independent scientific research including complex laboratory testing, experiments and analysis following established protocols
Design and develop research objectives for experimentation
Analyze and evaluate findings
Assist in completion of grant applications and other regulatory documents
Write technical summaries and co-author articles for publication
Prepare and make formal presentations of research results
Typically work under broad direction of principal investigator
Implement experiments in the subject discipline with the ability to troubleshoot issues
Teach principles and techniques of medical and laboratory procedures to junior individuals working in the lab
Run complex pieces of equipment requiring advanced specialized training
Analyze and evaluate data
Collaborate with a research group or team

Required

Recently obtained a PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Biology or similar discipline
First author on at least 1-2 publications in Cancer, cell-ECM mechanotransduction, and/or biomedical engineering applications
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
High level of knowledge in scientific research processes, procedures, and objectives
Ability to implement experiments in the subject discipline with the ability to troubleshoot issues
Good knowledge of the principles and techniques of the subject discipline
Ability to run complex pieces of equipment requiring advanced specialized training
Knowledge of modern research methods, data collection and analysis
Significant experience in analyzing and evaluating data
General level of knowledge of project management, decision-making, and analytical skills
Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with a research group or team
Requires a doctorate degree in a clinical, health, or life science field

Preferred

Experience in 3D tissue cultures
Experience in confocal imaging
Experience in cancer biology
Management experience is highly recommended
Selected from national applicant pool or known to be nationally competitive
