Responsibilities

Own the end-to-end strategy for the Flower category, including strain mix, quality tiers, price architecture, and inventory health
Develop data-led growth recommendations based on sales trends, margin performance, mix shifts, strain velocity, and customer purchasing behavior
Establish and maintain tiered flower frameworks (e.g., Good / Better / Best or equivalent shelf structures) aligned to brand strategy
Identify opportunities to improve volume, margin dollars, turns, and freshness through assortment optimization and pricing strategy
Manage category lifecycle planning, including seasonal strain rotations and limited drops
Partner with merchandising and finance teams to develop flower pricing strategies that balance competitiveness, margin protection, and quality perception
Plan and execute flower promotional calendars, including vendor-funded promotions, scarcity drops, and seasonal programs
Analyze promotional effectiveness, lift, and margin impact, making recommendations for future investment
Monitor competitive pricing, market benchmarks, and regional dynamics to maintain strong price perception
Lead SKU rationalization, strain grading, and new cultivar onboarding, ensuring optimal assortment size and productivity
Work closely with Visual Merchandising and Store Operations to provide actionable guidance for in-store execution and shelf presentation
Ensure in-store execution aligns with flower strategy, promotional priorities, and quality standards
Partner with supply chain teams to support inventory flow, freshness standards, and turn targets
Serve as the Flower category subject matter expert, leveraging POS data, loyalty insights, vendor sell-through, and third-party market data (e.g., BDSA, Headset)
Track and report on KPIs including sales, margin %, margin dollars, mix, turns, strain productivity, and promotional lift
Prepare clear, concise category reviews, performance summaries, and business cases for pricing, assortment, or investment decisions
Translate complex data into actionable insights for leadership and cross-functional partners
Build and manage strong partnerships with flower cultivators and vendor partners, negotiating cost, funding, exclusivity, and promotional support
Collaborate closely with operations, marketing, supply chain, and store teams to ensure category alignment and execution
Support vendor summits, line reviews, and strategic planning initiatives related to flower
Demonstrate strong Excel and analytical skills, translating data into actionable insights and clear recommendations
Ensure all flower strategies, promotions, and assortments comply with state and local cannabis regulations
Maintain alignment with brand standards while allowing for market-specific customization where appropriate

Required

Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Finance, or related field required
3-5+ years of experience in category management, merchandising, buying, or commercial analytics within retail or CPG
Strong analytical capability with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable recommendations
Understanding of revenue, gross margin, cost of goods, and inventory turns
Advanced proficiency in Excel; experience with BI tools and dashboards preferred
Ability to collaborate effectively with Procurement, Operations, Marketing, Finance, and Supply Chain
Ability to operate in a fast-paced, evolving, and acquisition-driven environment with comfort navigating ambiguity
Ability to obtain and maintain an active Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED) badge in the state of Colorado

Preferred

Experience in multi-state retail, regulated industries, or cannabis is a plus but not required
Experience supporting growth, change, or M&A integration is strongly preferred
Familiarity with operating within regulated or controlled environments and established governance frameworks
