NMSU Conference Services is a comprehensive research university dedicated to teaching, research, public service, and outreach. They are seeking a Laboratory Tech Instruction to assist faculty in preparing and delivering laboratory-based instruction and maintaining lab spaces and equipment for optimal student use.

Responsibilities

Assisting full- and part-time faculty in preparing and delivering laboratory-based instruction
Setting up lab spaces with the necessary tools, materials, and equipment; ensuring they are in optimal condition for student use
Performing routine maintenance or minor repairs as needed
Keeping equipment and lab area functional and safe
Operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment
Serving as a resource for students
Offering guidance on proper equipment use and safety protocols during lab sessions
Reinforcing classroom concepts through hands-on demonstrations
Helping students connect theoretical knowledge to practical application
Maintaining the proper level of supplies
Properly using a wide range of tools and machinery
Supporting the laboratories, equipment, and classes primarily taught at the DACC’s Workforce Center and also taught at the other campuses and centers

Required

High School diploma or higher degree

Preferred

Basic Computer Skills
1-2 Years Experience In Building Construction Or Maintenance Preferred
Hands-on familiarity with power tools and hand tools commonly used in construction labs, including saws, drills, nailers, and measuring tools
Experience assisting with framing, basic carpentry, concrete work, or other entry-level construction tasks
Background maintaining, repairing, or calibrating construction equipment and lab materials
Familiarity with construction safety practices including PPE use, OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 standards, and safe tool handling
Experience organizing materials, managing tool inventories, and setting up lab stations for instructional activities
Prior work supporting instructors, foremen, or supervisors in training environments or industry apprenticeships
