Service Desk Technician II

Responsibilities

Serve as a secondary point of contact for IT-related issues, when contacted by the Managed Service Provider (MSP), providing timely and effective troubleshooting and resolution for pharmacy-specific software and general IT infrastructure both locally hosted and cloud-based
Coordination with the MSP for ensuring regular system maintenance, including updates, backups, and security checks, are conducted in a timely manner to ensure optimal performance and data integrity
Monitor system performance, identify potential issues, and recommend or implement proactive solutions
Provide oversite for management of user accounts, permissions, and security settings for various applications
Collaborate with vendors for advanced troubleshooting and system enhancements
Participate in the planning, testing, and implementation of new IT systems, software, and hardware within the pharmacy environment
Work closely with pharmacy staff to understand workflow requirements and configure systems to maximize efficiency, compliance, and patient safety
Identify opportunities for process improvement and system optimization within the pharmacy workflow
Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides
Generate custom reports from various pharmacy systems to support operational needs, regulatory compliance, and business analytics
Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across integrated systems
Assist with data migration and conversion projects as needed
Develop and deliver training programs for pharmacy staff on the effective use of IT systems and applications
Create user-friendly guides and training materials as well as more detailed IT guides and training materials for the internal IT department and the MSP
Provide ongoing support and education to users to enhance their proficiency and adoption of new technologies
Work collaboratively with IT team members, pharmacy leadership, and other departments to achieve organizational goals
Communicate effectively with non-technical users, translating complex technical concepts into understandable terms
Stay current with industry trends and best practices related to pharmacy IT systems and healthcare technology
This position has access to PHI and must comply with HIPAA regulations
Comply with the company Corporate Compliance Program

Required

Strong understanding and or ability to learn pharmacy operations, workflows, regulations, and terminology (e.g., dispensing, order entry, billing, inventory)
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex software and hardware issues and provide effective resolutions
Experience with system implementation, configuration, and optimization
Proficiency in creating reports and extracting data from databases
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality
Superior analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities, capable of making informed and timely decisions and identifying innovative solutions
Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively resolve conflicts and build strong professional relationships (networking)
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, complex projects, and meet tight deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Ability to adapt to changing healthcare regulations and industry trends

May have to work overtime with little or no notice as needed
A minimum of 6 years of experience with increasing responsibilities for support of information technology in a healthcare setting
This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test

Preferred

A technical certification or degree in Computer Science or Information Systems, or a related field or equivalent experience
Experience with both shared and outsourced solutions and support of in-house information and communication systems in a multi-site, client-server environment
Experience with clinical management, electronic medical records and financial management information
CompTIA A+ certification or equivalent experience
Security+, and HIPAA Security experience
Experience with a variety of server, desktop and notebook computer hardware and operating systems and with mobile devices including smart phones and tablets, including Mobile Device Management (MDM) Solutions
Experience with local and wide area network operation and enterprise database servers and application software
