Responsibilities
Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work as a core member of a diverse team (ME, EE, and SW) to integrate mechanical systems with complex electronics, sensors, and software
Versatile Design: Support projects at various lifecycle stages, including full concept-to-market development when required
High-Fidelity Modeling: Utilize expert-level SolidWorks skills to develop complex assemblies, skeletons, and production-ready drawings
Engineering Analysis & Reporting: Perform foundational engineering calculations (structural, thermal, or tolerance stacks) and author professional technical reports to validate designs
Prototyping & Fabrication: Execute and oversee advanced prototype builds. You should be comfortable going beyond 3D printing, utilizing CNC techniques and traditional fabrication to prove out concepts
Qualification
Required
Bachelor or Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering
8–16 years of professional experience in mechanical design
Minimum of 3,000 hours of SolidWorks experience
Hands-on experience in several of the following areas: Injection or foam molding, die-casting, and weldments
Conventional and hard-tooled sheet metal, and Design for CNC
Mechanisms, robotics, and mechatronics
PCB packaging/integration, thermal management solutions, and selection of materials/coatings
GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and tolerance analysis for high-precision assemblies
Environmental sealing (IP-rated enclosures), fastening/joining, and specialized adhesives
Designing for regulatory testing environments (e.g., UL, CE, or MIL-STD)
Exceptional, proactive communicator who can clearly articulate technical trade-offs within a team and provide insightful updates to clients
Candidates must reside in the Austin, TX area and be available to work on-site during standard business hours
Preferred
Prior experience in a client-facing consulting environment is a significant advantage, but is not mandatory
