Sr. Property Accountant
Borger Residential is one of the largest property management firms in DC, managing over 6000 units and 2 million square feet of commercial space. The Senior Property Accountant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial accounting and reporting for a portfolio of properties, including reconciling bank accounts and preparing annual budget data.

Responsibilities
Review property income and expenses on a monthly basis and communicates discrepancies, unusual variances, or questions to the attention of the Property Manager and Management
Review monthly operating, security deposit and reserve bank statements and reconciliations for assigned properties and agree to respective cash balances in the general ledger
Monitor expenses and property investments
Prepare requested financial reports (i.e. owner requests, special reporting requirements) for properties
Prepare and remit property’s year-end tax and audit work-papers and supporting documentation for external CPA firm review
Assist property auditors in preparing year-end audits and other required reports, etc
Work with Management to stabilize cash situations for financially troubled properties
Coordinate funding of escrow and reserve accounts with the VP of Accounting
Qualification
Required
At least two years of property accountant experience for the Property Accountant role or at least four years of property accountant experience for a Sr. Property Accountant role
A Bachelor's or advanced degree in Accounting or Finance is required
Prior experience working with Property Management software systems, including but not limited to MRI and Yardi, AvidxChange and/or Nexus payables
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel
Strong time-management and communication skills
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Preferred
A CPA designation is highly desirable for the Sr. role
