Transportation Engineer III - Senior Designer
The State of Maine's Department of Transportation is seeking a Transportation Engineer III - Senior Designer. This professional level geotechnical engineering position involves providing geotechnical engineering services for highway projects, including overseeing subsurface exploration and preparing geotechnical design reports.

Responsibilities
Overseeing and inspecting subsurface exploration programs
Developing lab testing programs
Evaluating site conditions
Development of foundation alternatives and identification of pertinent geotechnical aspects for Preliminary Design Reports
Follow-on geotechnical engineering evaluations
Preparation of geotechnical design reports
Development of soil profile and boring log sheet
Producing cost estimates and construction specification for geotechnical items
Periodic field work to oversee or log subsurface exploration programs
Provide support to field personnel on various geotechnical construction activities
Qualification
Required
Licensure as a Professional Engineer plus two (2) years of work experience beyond such licensure which demonstrates the performance of significantly complex engineering science, competency in evaluating risk, and applying sound engineering judgement as it applies to planning, project development, and/or maintenance of public works structures and facilities
Licensure as a Professional Engineer as issued by the Maine State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers
