Responsibilities
Maintain within Ball State University’s Department of Intercollegiate Athletics a culture of compliance with NCAA, Mid-American Conference, and university regulations through effective provision of continuing rules education for all Ball State Department of Intercollegiate Athletics employees; support the development and provision of a compliance orientation program for all new Ball State Department of Intercollegiate Athletics employees; support the development and provision of continuing rules education for Ball State university student-athletes; support development and provision of rules education for representatives of Ball State University’s athletics interests
Participate in the development and implementation of Intercollegiate Athletics compliance and eligibility policies and procedures to ensure full compliance with all NCAA and MAC regulations, including but not limited to analyzing athletics compliance enforcement issues
Serve as the point of contact in all matters dealing with student-athlete initial eligibility, pre-enrollment amateurism, waivers, transcript review and eligibility center communications. Also serve as point of contact with Playing & Practice season education, monitoring and enforcement
Develop and deliver educational programs to student-athletes, coaches, athletics administrators, staff and others having relationships with the athletics program about University, conference and NCAA rules and regulations
Support NCAA Financial Aid and Revenue Distribution, and Academic Performance Program Reporting as needed
Serve as a liaison with University units such as Student-Athlete Support Services, Admissions, Office of the Registrar and Rinker Center for Global Affairs (International Programs), etc
Facilitate matters associated with academic and athletic financial aid, foundation scholarships, book scholarships, equipment loans, etc
Serve as compliance liaison for department wide camps and clinics
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
Two years of experience in NCAA Division I compliance
Preferred
Master's degree from an accredited college or university
Three to five years of experience in NCAA Division I compliance
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills
Working knowledge of NCAA programs/applications
Working knowledge of software systems such as ARMS, Banner, and Compliance Assistant
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to make informed decisions in a fast-paced and demanding environment
Knowledge and familiarity with current and interim NCAA Division I policies and rules, interpretations and education columns
