Start in 2026 SummerJames Hardie is the industry leader in exterior home and outdoor living solutions, and they are seeking an intern to gain hands-on experience in engineering. This 12-week paid internship will involve contributing to projects, performing research, and supporting manufacturing and process engineering work.

Responsibilities
Work with team members on diverse projects and tasks
Perform research and analysis to aid project objectives
Create reports, presentations, and necessary documentation
Engage in team meetings and share ideas
Learn and implement industry best practices and company standards
Gain exposure to manufacturing and process engineering work by supporting R&D and process development trials
Assist with trial runs, recording data, collecting samples and organizing results
Support the introduction of the new raw material formulation in the PVC plant
Support the validation of new equipment needed to be able to run the new raw material formulation
Qualification
Required
Must be enrolled in a bachelor's program in a relevant discipline at an accredited university, with an anticipated graduation date between December 2026 and May 2028 (rising junior or rising senior)
Demonstrated strong academic performance with a minimum GPA of 3.0
Must be available to work full-time for 12 weeks during the summer of 2026
Must have reliable transportation to and from the work location
Must be authorized to work in the US
Preferred
Target majors: chemical engineering, polymers, and material science, mechanical engineering
Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, product development, or engineering fundamentals. Interested in process improvement, troubleshooting and hands on work in a production environment
Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret data and identify trends
Problem-Solving: Strong aptitude for diagnosing issues, proposing solutions, taking initiative
Communication: Clear written and verbal communication for reporting and collaboration
Teamwork: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams (operators, management)
Attention to Detail: Accuracy in data collection and documentation
