Responsibilities

Perform and oversee inspection of mechanical components using precision instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges, pins, comparators, CMM)

Program and operate CMM machines for complex component inspections

Ensure compliance with internal and customer-specific quality standards

Maintain calibration of gauges and metrology equipment and manage calibration records

Act as the primary point of contact for quality-related issues on the production floor

Lead and mentor inspection team members, providing training and guidance on inspection techniques and quality standards

Develop and maintain inspection procedures, work instructions, and quality documentation

Coordinate with Engineering and Production to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions

Monitor and analyze inspection data for trends; report findings to management and recommend process improvements

Support internal audits and assist with gaining compliance with ISO and/or other regulatory standards

Participate in customer quality reviews and supplier quality evaluations as needed

Ensure timely processing of quality related tasks in the ERP and QMS systems (i.e., labor tickets, defect recording, tracking, and disposition)

Drive initiatives to improve inspection efficiency and overall product quality

Collaborate with management on quality objectives, KPIs, and improvement projects

Assist in preparing for external audits and certifications

Required

Advanced knowledge of mechanical inspection tools and techniques, including CMM programming

Strong understanding of quality systems, standards (ISO, ANSI), and compliance requirements

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and schematics

Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks)

Experience in machining techniques, metallurgy, and industrial finishes

Proven leadership ability with experience training and guiding others

Strong analytical, documentation, and reporting skills

Computer proficiency and ability to manage inspection and quality data

Self-starter with ability to work independently and lead initiatives

Ability to obtain required security clearances

High school diploma or vocational training plus 6+ years of inspection and quality control experience, including leadership responsibilities, or equivalent combination of training and experience
