Latitude Legal is partnering with a global e-commerce and consumer technology company to engage an experienced Senior Compliance Counsel on a part-time, engagement basis. This role involves advising on compliance matters, leading trade compliance, and enhancing internal compliance programs.

Responsibilities

Advise on product and consumer compliance, including consumer protection, safety, labeling, and applicable industry standards

Lead and support import/export and trade compliance, including export controls, sanctions, customs requirements, and tariff considerations for global operations

Partner with supply chain, logistics, finance, and business teams to assess and manage trade policy and tariff impacts

Take a central role in privacy and data protection compliance, including reviewing and updating privacy policies, advising on data flows, and supporting compliance with laws such as CCPA and GDPR

Monitor, assess, and advise on AI and emerging technology regulations, working closely with product, engineering, and development teams to ensure compliance with existing and evolving regulatory frameworks

Help build and enhance internal compliance programs, including policies, procedures, training materials, and risk management frameworks

Support audits, investigations, and regulatory inquiries, and manage outside counsel as needed

Collaborate with internal legal teammates and cross-border stakeholders on global compliance initiatives

Required

Attorney with 5+ years of legal experience, ideally a mix of in-house and law firm experience, with a strong focus on compliance, regulatory, or trade-related matters

Experience in e-commerce, consumer electronics, technology, or global trade environments required

Demonstrated experience advising on import/export controls, product compliance, privacy, or technology-related regulations; familiarity with AI regulation is a strong plus

Comfortable acting as a utility player - able to spot issues, prioritize risk, and provide practical, business-forward guidance

Strong communicator and collaborator who can work effectively with business leaders, technical teams, and external advisors

Highly organized, proactive, and comfortable working independently in a remote, engagement-based role

J.D. from an accredited law school

Outstanding references
