Accountant I
Paskenta Band of Nomlaki Indians is seeking an Accountant I to work closely with the Controller in fulfilling daily accounting and finance department support functions. The role involves processing accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and general ledger tasks, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, and preparing reports for audits.

Responsibilities
Responsible for preparation of accounts payable, including assuring complete and accurate records, coding and entry into A/P Module
Maintain accurate and complete vendor files
Complete bi-weekly payroll, including necessary overtime and other calculations
Prepare files and other reports as necessary for payroll compliance and reporting
Enter cash receipts on a daily basis into A/R Module
General ledger and other reconciliations as assigned by the Controller
Prepare end of month closing as needed
Ensure compliance with Tribal, Federal, state, and GAAP/GASB regulations
Prepare support schedules and reconciliations for quarter and annual reports and preparation for annual audit
Preparation of travel arrangements and completion of travel closeout
Responsible for centralized purchasing of organization supplies and other purchases and ensures compliance with tribal and federal procurement rules
Ensures control/protection of company assets
Maintain fixed asset schedule
Use Windows Excel, Word and other computer software and 10 key
Experience in accounting software, including A/P, A/R, Payroll and GL Modules

Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree (B S) or equivalent from four-year college or five to seven years experience directly related to the responsibilities noted above and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Five years experience in working with PC based accounting software
Detail oriented, familiarity with internal controls and documentation needs
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages and ratios to practical solutions
Ability to write reports and business correspondence
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees
Skill in solving practical problems and dealing with situations where only limited standardization exists
Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of principles and practices of general business administration including personnel practices and employment laws, general accounting practices, internal control practices.(GAAP/GASB)
Employment is contingent upon a favorable outcome of a background investigation and drug screen
Local travel is occasionally required. Travel outside of the state is infrequently required. Typical travel time is generally less than a week
Valid California driver license and insurable by the Tribe
Pre-employment Drug Testing and a Department of Justice Fingerprinting clearance through Federal, State and Child Abuse Index is a contingency for an offer of employment
Frequently involves sedentary work: exerting up to 10 pounds of force and/or a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
Occasionally involves light work: exerting up to 20 pounds of force and/or up to 10 pounds of force and/or negligible amount of force to move objects
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
Requires the ability to give and receive detailed information through verbal communication
This position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, and stooping in the performance of daily activities
The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in preparing reports using a computer keyboard
Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in proofreading correspondence and work-related documents
