Responsibilities

Coordinates and compiles necessary information and data to prepare system workplans, long range plans, and transmission studies
Revises the work plan on an annual basis and reprioritizes work plan jobs. Provides the staking section a detailed description of system improvements in a timely manner
Provides a verified system model and uses this model to assure PSC voltage guidelines are met. This section also assures that the system conductors and equipment will be of sufficient capacity to carry peak loading
Provides support and direction to Staking Section for electrical design, voltage drop, and transformer sizing
Provides sectionalizing and coordination planning to maximize system reliability and safety for the public
Determines load balance, voltage, sectionalizing, and load studies on new and system improvement line extensions in order to recommend optimal system configuration
Designs and coordinates the construction and installation of all system devices (sectionalizing, regulators, Capacitors, etc.)
Reviews electrical drawings and data for new and upgraded large power facilities and sizes OECC facilities appropriately
Performs non-routine and complex assignments of substantial variety and complexity. Receives objectives from System Engineer and other Engineering Staff members. May be assisted by technicians
Compiles and computes a variety of engineering data. Analyzes test and design data. Develops or prepares schematics, designs, specifications, parts lists, or makes recommendations regarding these items
Maintains inventory of single phase reclosers and transformers used in three phase installations
Performs other such duties as requested or required by the position

Required

Requires a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field from an accredited university
Must begin training within the position and will be expected to continue education though training classes and seminars
Must work towards obtaining an FE license within one year of hire with the goal of obtaining a PE Certification in the future
Computer equipment with various engineering and design software as well as standard office equipment
Must have valid driver's license without violation, which would prohibit insurability
Requires frequent contacts with the public, written communication in the form of reports and correspondence, and occasional formal presentations
Requires ability to be accurate and handle details and meet occasional deadlines under pressure
Requires ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, as well as trigonometry
Must be able to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions, and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
Must be proficient in Windows based programs
Must be able to carry out a variety of activities, which require a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Must be able to perform all activities listed in the job description with or without reasonable accommodation
Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds
Requires normal range of hearing and vision
Work is performed mostly in an office environment but requires outdoor field site visits and research
Working outdoors could result in occasional exposure to extreme weather conditions; hot, cold; dry, wet; etc
Multiple day travel is required occasionally throughout the year

One to Two years' experience is preferred but not required
