Large Commercial Builder’s Risk Underwriter

Ledgebrook is an InsurTech MGA focused on modernizing the Specialty insurance sector. The Large Commercial Builder’s Risk Underwriter will be responsible for sourcing and underwriting complex Builder’s Risk policies, conducting risk assessments, pricing, and managing a profitable portfolio while collaborating with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Building and maintaining a profitable portfolio. Proactively taking steps to optimize the portfolio and manage aggregations
Developing solutions unique to each client while protecting our bottom line
Day-to-day communication, marketing, and negotiating with approved clients and broker contacts
Examines, identifies, and evaluates exposures by analyzing documentation from various sources, such as the insurance application, project and site plans, project schedules, geotechnical reports, credit reports, crime scores, Nat Cat models etc
Coordinating Loss Prevention/ Risk Engineering services both internally and with our vendor partners
Underwrite and evaluate Natural Catastrophe Accumulation, ensuring an understanding of catastrophe modelling and interpretation of scenarios. Manage this on a per risk and portfolio basis
Key role in working with pricing system and technical teams to maximum profitability
Compliance with all internal and external guidelines and legal requirements

Required

Experience in underwriting complex, large commercial Builder's Risk (ISO Class 1-6) in the United States
Technical risk assessment skills
Pricing and line size deployment experience for new and renewal risks
Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders to develop and maintain a profitable portfolio
Proven ability to build and maintain a profitable portfolio
Experience in developing solutions unique to each client while protecting the bottom line
Strong communication, marketing, and negotiation skills with approved clients and broker contacts
Ability to examine, identify, and evaluate exposures by analyzing documentation from various sources
Experience coordinating Loss Prevention/Risk Engineering services
Understanding of Natural Catastrophe Accumulation and catastrophe modelling
Experience working with pricing systems and technical teams to maximize profitability
Compliance with all internal and external guidelines and legal requirements
