Responsibilities
Oversee the design, provisioning, and management of ~40+ PBs of data storage supporting clinical, research and administrative systems across multiple geographical sites
Lead and coordinate the engineering phases of storage solution delivery including planning, design, buildout, testing, procurement, and transition to operational support
Experience in managing enterprise storage solutions including Dell EMC Powermax, Isilon, PURE, Brocade SAN, Avamar Data Protection and Data Domain
Design and develop basic integrated solutions to meet business requirements or enhance performance of Data Protection solutions (Dell EMC Avamar, Networker, Data Domain, ECS, Recover Point 4 VM, Power Protect Data Manager)
Design robust storage and backup solutions to meet demanding organizational and application specific SLAs including, but not limited to, HA, RTO/RPO, offsite requirements and disaster recovery to datacenters or public cloud providers
Continuously develop technical subject matter expertise on established and emerging storage technologies as it relates to CIFS, NFS, SSD Storage, Storage Snapshots, Site Replication, and Data Mirroring
Streamline and automate existing storage administrative processes, improve reliability, and reduce the cost per gigabyte across multiple storage platforms
Adhere to SOX, PCI, and other regulatory requirements as dictated
Regularly review/implement advances in technology and industry best practices
Assists with preparation of operating and capital budgets following established guidelines and using benchmark data
Compare and contrast multiple vendor storage solutions in detailed proof of concept tests to identify superior solutions
Engage customers (private cloud teams, game teams, SRE) to understand their challenges and collaborate to solve them in creative ways
Qualification
Required
Expertise in large scale architecture and deployment of enterprise backup and storage solutions across multiple data centers, sites, and public cloud
Experience with back up strategy in public cloud such as Azure and AWS
Experience working with managed service providers
Experience in designing storage technology and integrating various cloud storage options
Experience in capacity planning and perform analysis of current landscape of storage workloads and storage pools
10 + years of experience in architecting and implementing enterprise scale back up and storage solutions
Proven experience includes SAN-based block storage, object storage, and file storage
Good understanding of physical tape libraries and experience with security key managers
Ability to work across the infrastructure team to create vision and roadmap for various infrastructure teams (VMware, Network, Linux, Windows, Unix, etc.)
Ability to author and implement basic scripting and coding to automate technical needs such as to move files, backup, create configuration, or other tasks
Good Understanding of Shell/Python and Ansible scripting
