The State of Alaska is seeking a Local Government Specialist to support rural communities across the state. This role involves building relationships and providing assistance in areas such as local elections, financial management, and emergency response, while traveling to various regions of Alaska.

Qualification
Required
Understanding the unique challenges and strengths of rural communities
Knowing how to meet people where they are and offer real support that makes a difference
Experience leading workshops or training sessions for adults, whether face-to-face or remotely over platforms like Zoom or MS Teams
Expressed confidence explaining rules, policies, or regulations clearly, whether you're talking to community members, coworkers, or government folks. Written or spoken, you know how to get your point across
Demonstrated hands-on experience with accounting software (like QuickBooks or Quicken) and can interpret budgets or financial statements without breaking a sweat, especially in a government or nonprofit setting
Administration and Management: Knowledge of planning, coordination, and execution of business functions, resource allocation, and production
Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: uses a logical, systematic, sequential approach to address problems or opportunities or manage a situation by drawing on one's knowledge and experience base and calling on other references and resources as necessary
Oral and Written Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately

Provide a cover letter detailing your experience teaching adults and/or writing or proofreading technical documents, municipal or tribal documents, or financial documents
