Senior Financial Professional

They are seeking a Senior Financial Professional to lead financial planning, budgeting, and compliance efforts while supporting the CEO in strategic initiatives and managing financial operations.

Responsibilities

Responsible for hiring, supervision, guidance and training of staff on preparation of budgets, financial statements, accounting, payroll and various other projects
Support Chief Executive Officer in devising strategies and formulating policies to achieve the company’s financial goals and objectives
Advise the executive team on financial implications of strategic initiatives and significant business decisions
Responsible for the creation, implementation, and monitoring of annual operating and capital budgets
Responsible for accounting, financial statements and tax basis calculations
Identify and implement cost control measures while recognizing that providing the highest quality care, recruiting and retaining veterinarians as well as ensuring that the company is a preferred place to work are the priorities
Evolve and direct tax planning strategies to optimize the clinic’s tax position and liability management
Prepare reports and documentation for statements audits, tax return preparation
Ensure compliance with applicable tax laws, veterinary business regulations, and financial reporting standards
Manage relationships with external auditors and accountants
Experience with software products and systems including those for financial, inventory (regulatory and nonregulatory) and operation management
Manage day-to-day cash flow and any financing needs
Oversee capital expenditures (e.g., medical equipment, facility upgrades) and ROI analysis
Identify funding opportunities if and as needed including revolvers
Optimize the clinic’s revenue cycle, including client billing, collections, and insurance claims processing

Required

5-10 years of experience in public accounting, accounting and investment operations in healthcare or veterinary services
A CPA is required; MBA is a plus
Excellent leadership qualities and a strong ability to manage people effectively
Strong work ethic, attention to detail, ability to be a self-starter, prioritizing teamwork, collegial, and a respectful approach are necessary personality traits
Portfolio database, healthcare and accounting management software proficiency, and a thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office, NetSuite and QuickBooks are essential

Preferred

Prior experience in veterinary industry or healthcare a plus
Current or prior pet ownership is a plus
