Responsibilities

Report directly to the Electronics and Electrical Section Manager as part of a group of 45 other Electronics and Electrical Engineers
Work with other EMI/EMC engineers in support of the Avionics Division on-site at NASA Johnson Space Center
Work with NASA E3 Engineers, major contractors, and sub-contractors, both domestic and foreign, within their engineering disciplines
Duties include analysis, test planning, and circuit test and analysis for electromagnetic effects including EMI/EMC
Support E3 test projects by developing Test Requirements, Test Plans and Test Procedures
Candidate will evaluate test and analysis data, technical requirements, verifications including waivers within the areas of electromagnetic interference (EMI), electrostatic discharge, corona, grounding, isolation, bonding, and harness/wiring
Within the role, it will be expected to integrate with cross-functional teams, including design, test, and systems engineering, to develop, analyze, and implement EMI/EMC control strategies that ensure the integrity and performance of human-rated spaceflight hardware
Witness E3 testing, providing real-time data analysis, troubleshooting, reduce the test data, and providing a Quick Test Report prior to writing the final test report
Prepare update briefings to management on any significant tests that are performed in the EMI facility
Support Preliminary Design Reviews, and Critical Design Reviews; EMC analyses (analytical and numerical), E3 Test Readiness Reviews and witness E3 tests
Support cross-discipline design teams with design areas impacting or impacted by electromagnetic effects
Support design engineers with consultation and review of electronic circuitry, bonding, grounding and cable designs for EMC compliance
Support projects in new modeling and simulation techniques for design and testing hardware
Support design engineers in bench top lab EMI assessments/Engineering Evaluations
Be able to look at programs from a system perspective with respect to EMC/EMI areas early in a project. This may include Risk Analysis and recommendations for design changes
While working in a laboratory environment, following standard operating procedures and following safety protocols established by the test facility
Perform other duties, as required, including multiple discipline (Avionics, Power Quality, RF Tx/RX Systems, Mechanical/Structural, Environments, etc.) meetings; attend weekly in office status meetings, as well as online TEAMS meetings with NASA, primary Contractor, and sub-contractors
