This role involves providing engineering oversight for municipal and private sector projects related to drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater improvements, ensuring compliance with design standards and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
Provide engineering oversight of federal and state funded municipal and private sector projects to plan, design, and construct drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, and other water infrastructure improvements
Review and approve engineering reports, consultant agreements, construction contract documents, progress payments, and project related certifications
Interact with federal and state funding partners, municipal officials, project owners, engineering consultants, and regulatory officials, and provide technical advice to other Department of Environmental Conservation programs
Participate in site visits and other field work as part of the engineer's responsibilities
Assist other programs in DEC and other State Agencies with engineering related questions or issues
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree or higher in environmental, sanitary, chemical, water resources, civil or mechanical engineering or a related field
three (3) or more years of experience in a related engineering field
One (1) year or more of experience as an Environmental Engineer V
two (2) years or more as an Environmental Engineer IV
Preferred
Vermont Professional Engineers license is preferred, but not required
strong written and verbal communication skills
demonstrated ability to manage publicly funded projects
experience working with federal funds
