Responsibilities

Handle all phases of litigation from intake through trial, including pre-suit investigation, pleadings, discovery, motion practice, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation
Independently manage a caseload of plaintiff-side personal injury, medical malpractice, and insurance bad faith matters
Develop case strategies grounded in West Virginia and Ohio law, insurance practices, and complex civil procedure
Review medical records, engage experts, prepare case evaluations, and develop detailed chronologies
Conduct depositions, mediations, hearings, and court appearances (in person as required)
Collaborate with paralegals, experts, consultants, and co-counsel to maximize case outcomes
Maintain consistent and transparent communication with clients
Participate in ongoing professional development and trial skills training

Required

Juris Doctor (JD) and active license to practice law in West Virginia (Ohio licensure is a plus but not required)
3–7+ years of plaintiff-side litigation experience (personal injury, trucking, insurance bad faith, or related civil litigation)
Strong legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills
Trial or significant litigation experience preferred
Ability to manage cases independently in a remote or hybrid environment
High level of professionalism, ethics, and client-service orientation
Willingness to travel within West Virginia and Ohio for depositions, hearings, or trials as needed

Preferred

Insurance coverage or bad faith litigation experience
Familiarity with medical evidence and expert witness preparation
Strong settlement evaluation and case valuation skills
