They are seeking a Senior Roku Software Engineer to design, build, and maintain Roku video playback technologies, collaborating closely with engineers to deliver high-quality streaming experiences.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain a Roku Video Player SDK using BrightScript, SceneGraph, and Roku platform tools

Lead and contribute to the architecture of a scalable, cross-platform video playback solution

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues across the video playback pipeline

Write clean, performant, and maintainable code following best engineering practices

Participate in and lead code reviews, providing technical guidance and mentorship

Partner with QA and operations teams to reproduce, diagnose, and resolve production issues

Create and maintain technical documentation to support team knowledge sharing and long-term maintainability

Stay current with emerging trends and best practices in streaming media and playback technologies

Required

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

3+ years of professional Roku software development experience

Strong proficiency in BrightScript and SceneGraph

Hands-on experience implementing DASH and/or HLS streaming on Roku

Solid understanding of video playback concepts, streaming protocols, and performance optimization

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment

Preferred

Experience with web, mobile, or other streaming platforms is a plus
