Responsibilities

Act as project lead and primary author for major Rule development projects
Develop Proposed Rule Changes
Collaborate with subject matter experts across ABS (Technology, Engineering, Survey, Sustainability, etc)
Engage external stakeholders (e.g., Technical Committee Members, clients, Flag Administrations, etc)
Identify operational readiness needs. Initiate development of Freedom and Engineering Software updates, training, quality system documents, etc
Maintain awareness of Rule development needs and assist in development of short- and long-term plans
Ensures the technical quality, content, consistency, continuity and timeliness of all projects within assigned area of responsibility

Required

B.S. degree in Civil, Structural Engineering, Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, Marine, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or other related disciplines
Currently a Senior Engineer or minimum two (2) years experience working as an ABS Engineer II
Excellent writing skills
Command of the English language
Knowledge of related technical disciplines
Knowledge of applicable Rules and regulations and the impact of Rule applications and interpretations
Knowledge of company business policies and procedures
The human relations skills necessary to maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and peers
Ability to develop and implement logical solutions to complex problems
Ability to undertake short- and long-term planning to provide for efficient and effective scheduling of work assignments
Needs to be familiar with the ABS Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental Management System

Preferred

M.S. degree in Civil, Structural Engineering, Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, Marine, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or other related disciplines
