Environmental Engineer VII - Water Investment Division

The State Of Vermont Dept Health is seeking a highly organized individual for the Environmental Engineer VII position in the Water Investment Division. This role involves providing engineering oversight for drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with design standards and funding requirements.

Responsibilities

Provide engineering oversight of federal and state funded municipal and private sector projects to plan, design, and construct drinking water, wastewater, stormwater, and other water infrastructure improvements
Review and approve engineering reports, consultant agreements, construction contract documents, progress payments, and project related certifications
Interact with federal and state funding partners, municipal officials, project owners, engineering consultants, and regulatory officials, and provide technical advice to other Department of Environmental Conservation programs
Participate in site visits and other field work as necessary
Manage numerous projects concurrently and work with a wide array of local, municipal, regional, federal, and state officials, public and private sector project owners, engineering consultants, construction contractors, and related organizations

Required

Master's degree or higher in environmental, sanitary, chemical, water resources, civil, structural, mechanical, hydraulic or geotechnical engineering AND five (5) years of professional experience in environmental, sanitary, water resources, civil, structural, geotechnical or hydraulic engineering
Bachelor's degree in environmental, sanitary, chemical, water resources, civil, structural, mechanical, hydraulic or geotechnical engineering AND seven (7) years of professional experience in environmental, sanitary, water resources, civil, structural, geotechnical or hydraulic engineering
Bachelor's degree in any field of engineering AND eight (8) years of professional experience in environmental, sanitary, water resources, civil, structural, geotechnical or hydraulic engineering
One (1) year experience as an Environmental Engineer VI or two (2) years as an Environmental Engineer V
Vermont registration as a Professional Engineer in the fields of civil, civil/sanitary, civil/structural, environmental, sanitary or structural engineering

Preferred

Strong written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to manage publicly funded projects
Experience working with federal funds
Vermont Professional Engineers license
