Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain automation scripts and tools using Python, shell scripting, PL/SQL, and Java to streamline database administration tasks such as backups, monitoring, patching, and performance tuning
Collaborate with DBAs and engineering teams to gather requirements, identify automation opportunities, and implement efficient, reliable solutions that address operational challenges
Optimize existing database processes by refactoring legacy scripts, enhancing error handling, and improving automation workflows
Develop and implement monitoring solutions to proactively identify database issues and automate corrective actions, ensuring high system availability and minimal downtime
Document automation processes, scripts, and tools to support knowledge sharing, troubleshooting, and compliance requirements
Participate in code reviews, testing, and validation to maintain code quality and ensure solutions meet security, scalability, and compliance standards
Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in database automation, scripting languages, and system administration
Support incident response and root cause analysis by developing tools and scripts to diagnose and remediate database-related issues
Work within agile and cross-functional teams, contributing to planning, prioritization, and continuous delivery of automation enhancements
Qualification
Required
Advanced scripting skills (Shell and PL/SQL)
Advanced coding skills (Java and Python)
Experience with GitHub
Code review experience
DevOps Tools including CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and monitoring
Understanding of REST Architecture and JSON
Understanding of automation of manual tasks
Preferred
Backend software automation
Experience with Oracle Databases, Oracle Autonomous Database, ExaCS
Experience in Cloud architecture
Experience with OCI

Paid time off: Flexible Vacation is provided to all eligible employees assigned to a salaried (non-overtime eligible) position. Accrued Vacation is provided to all other employees eligible for vacation benefits. For employees working at least 35 hours per week, the vacation accrual rate is 13 days annually for the first three years of employment and 18 days annually for subsequent years of employment. Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
