EXL is seeking an experienced Healthcare Integration Engineer to design, build, and implement advanced interoperability solutions leveraging HL7, FHIR, and C-CDA standards. The role involves developing healthcare data integration solutions, building RESTful API frameworks, and creating technical documentation.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement healthcare data integration solutions with external health networks (QHINs)
Build high-performance RESTful API frameworks
Implement FHIR APIs (RESTful) and support OAuth 2.0 for secure third-party integrations
Create comprehensive technical documentation, including interface specifications, data mapping documents, and system architecture diagrams

Qualification

Required

5–7+ years of hands-on experience in healthcare interoperability and integration development
Strong understanding of FHIR API development and RESTful services
Proficiency in scripting languages (Python) for custom transformations and data manipulation
Expertise in HL7 FHIR standards (R4 preferred), including core resources, profiles, extensions, and implementation guides (US Core, Argonaut, Da Vinci)
Solid knowledge of C-CDA document types and ability to perform C-CDA to FHIR transformations
Familiarity with healthcare terminology standards such as SNOMED CT, LOINC, ICD-10, CPT etc

Preferred

Experience with integration engines like Mirth Connect or InterSystems IRIS for Health
IRIS/Ensemble/HealthConnect for building complex channels, transformers, and workflows
Knowledge of mapping C-CDA clinical documents (CCD, Referral Notes, Discharge Summaries) to FHIR resources (Patient, Encounter, Condition, Observation, MedicationRequest etc)
